One of the most advertised things about Windows 7 is its ability to run faster on your computer. This does not mean that is will always run as fast as the day you first got it. Windows has a few small things you can do to speed it up. Here are 4 pretty easy tips to speed up Windows 7.

Get Rid of Junk and Old Stuff

There is a constant battle going on inside your computer as different programs and processes are fighting for valuable RAM and CPU resources. The first thing you should do is get rid of all the crap that you no longer use or that you never used in the first place. Click on the start button then select the Control Panel. In there select the programs menu then select uninstall a program. Once that list populates take a good hard look at the programs listed. Older and unused programs can cause a slow computer. Select the things you may have downloaded and forgotten about or many the programs you downloaded and only used once. There is no need to leave them in there using up valuable resources.

Speed Up the Start Up

The next thing you can check out is the programs that your computer starts automatically every time you start up your computer. If your computer is usually off at this time then the function never gets done. Head over to the Start button and type Defrag into the search bar. The problem evolves when these files are not periodically cleaned out. This means that thousands of these files become amassed in this one folder. Of COURSE this is going to cause your PC or windows XP to run slow! Clear that folder out and start of fresh and new!

So what do we mean by scheduled maintenance functions? The biggie is the defragmenting of your hard drive. What this does is eliminate the gaps and spots left open by adding and removing different programs. This will allow your hard drive to work easier when trying to access information. Think of it as a messy closet with everything thrown in. If you go in looking for one baseball mitt do you think its going to take you a long time to find it?
